Man robs Walgreen store of Oxycontin, other drugs

Nov 1, 2007 | Colleen Sparks | The Arizona Republic

An armed robber struck a Walgreen drugstore early Tuesday morning on East Chandler Boulevard near 40th Street in Ahwatukee Foothills.

At about 5:30 a.m., a man approached the pharmacy at the drugstore in the 3900 block of East Chandler Boulevard, Phoenix Police Sgt. Leonard Pinuelas said.

He handed the pharmacist a note asking for Oxycontin, Pinuelas said.

The pharmacist gave him several bottles of Oxycontin, Morphine and Percocet and the robber fled the store, he said.

Witnesses did not see him get in a vehicle but a gray passenger car had been spotted nearby prior to the robbery, Pinuelas said.

The suspect is believed to be about 25 to 30 years old, 6-foot-3 and about 170 pounds, wearing a gray short-sleeved shirt over a black, long-sleeved shirt, baggy blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a black baseball cap, he said. He was clean-shaven and his fingernails were painted black, Pinuelas said.
