2 Columbus-area men arrested in OxyContin sting at rest stop

Nov 15, 2007 | Staff | The Columbus Dispatch

Two Columbus-area men were arrested last night in a narcotics sting at a rest stop in southern Ohio.

Scioto County sheriff's deputies arrested Roger D. Baldwin, 43, of Columbus, and Perry J. Rothe, 42, of Hamilton Township, around 8:30 p.m. at a rest area on US 23 near Lucasville. Deputies said they found more than 300 OxyContin pills in the men's possession, which investigators said the men were intending to sell in Scioto County.

According to the sheriff's office, the pills had a street value of $30,000.

Both men, who were being held overnight in the Scioto County Jail, face arraignment this morning in a Portsmouth courtroom.
