What is DTaP?

The DTaP vaccine is sometimes known as "DTwP" and "DTP,""DPT," "DTPa" or "TdaP." The usual course of immunization is five doses between two months and fifteen years.

DTaP, (sometimes DTP) comprises a mixture of three vaccines, intended to immunize against diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough) and tetanus. Since the early 1980s, there have been reports of severe adverse reactions and side effects including permanent neurological damage associated with DTaP vaccinations. These reactions, and side effects include, serious allergic reaction ("anaphylaxis" or "anaphylactic shock"); inflammation of nerves in the arm causing muscle weakness ("brachial neuritis") prolonged seizures, or even death.

Have you or a loved one suffered from any of these severe adverse reactions or side effects (anaphylaxis or anaphylactic shock, or brachial neuritis) due to DTaP? Illnesses, Disabilities, and Death Linked to DTaP

Severe injury closely following DtaP immunization can happen within a matter of hours (less than four hours) after the injection, including anaphylaxis, or brachial neuritis (from two to twenty-eight days) after the injection. Side effects may also include prolonged seizures, a decrease in consciousness, lasting brain disease, or even death.

DTaP Side Effects Harm Children Within Days of Injection

It has been reported where symptoms of neurological damage occurred within seven days of vaccination; and, such side effects could be the cause of neurological damage, can continue for the rest of a vaccine victim's life, and even cause death through:

  • Anaphylaxis or Anaphylactic shock (serious allergic reaction, within four hours): Cyanosis, Hypotension, Bradycardia, Tachycardia, Arrhythmia, Edema with/without Stridor and Dyspnea, Acute Emphysema, or Eosinophilic liver, spleen and lungs.
  • Brachial Neuritis (inflammation of arm nerves causing muscle weakness), from two to twenty-eight days after injection), but, limited to upper extremity nerve plexis. A deep, steady, severe pain in the shoulder and upper arm usually heralds onset. Weakness follows the pain and atrophy may occur on one side, and is sometimes bilateral.
  • Acute complications or sequella, including death (illnesses, disabilities, or injuries associated with adverse reactions or side effects from DTaP).
