Woman suffers head trauma in roof fall
Apr 11, 2008 | Associated Press | The Spec
A Niagara Falls woman remains in stable condition in Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto with serious head injuries after tumbling two storeys from the roof of a house in downtown Welland.
Janine Careth Hallgren, 27, had been visiting the residence on King Street in the Rose City and was leaving to return home when the fall occurred at about 3 a.m., Wednesday.
Niagara Staff Sergeant Brian Richardson said police believe the fall was an accident because Hallgren was unfamiliar with the unlit area.
They have ruled out foul play.
He added there were "circumstances" he couldn't discuss at this time, which might explain her behaviour.
According to a local newspaper report, there were people partying on the roof at the time and drugs may be involved.
Richardson said Hallgren had been living in Niagara Falls for about three years.
