Whether they are tired criminals or just stupid truck drivers, a man whose daughter was killed in an accident caused by truck drivers says he wants to get as many of them off the road as possible.
Rob Durk is among the accident victims and safety advocates who will be issuing a report card today on how well the government is doing in addressing truck safety issues.
They also will name the most dangerous states for truck-related accident deaths.
Durk's 15-year-old daughter was killed in Illinois last July when their vehicle was struck from behind by a semi-truck.
The Durks were stopped in traffic because of an accident caused by another trucker who had fallen asleep behind the wheel.
Jackie Gillan with Citizens for Reliable and Safe Highways says the Department of Transportation pays little attention to the fact that more than 5,000 people die each year in truck-related accidents, yet pats itself on the back when there are no deadly plane crashes.
