A £110,000 Ferrari was reduced to a burnt out lump of metal after a high speed crash.

The 360 Modena lost control on a bend, bounced more than once as it crashed over a hedgerow before landing in a crop field and bursting into flames.

Two people were hurt in the crash on the A182 New Dawdon Link Road, near the A19 in Seaham, County Durham.

The 32-year-old male driver, from South Hetton, County Durham, was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment for a broken right ankle.

But his passenger, a 37-year-old woman from nearby Murton, was air-lifted to the hospital by police helicopter suffering multiple pelvic fractures and a broken left hip in the accident at 9pm on Sunday.

Her condition was described as, 'not life threatening'. The occupants were treated by firefighters as they waited for paramedics.
