A carbon monoxide detector is being credited with saving a Clermont County family this morning. Two adults and two kids were asleep at a house on Berry Court... When the detector went off.
They heard it... And called for help.
The mother and father and two kids, ages 6 and 2, were taken University Hospital as a precaution because they had monoxide poisoning symptoms, including dizziness and headaches.
Firefighters say the furnace and water heater were not properly ventilated.
Fire experts encourage everyone with gas appliances to have them checked because this is the time of year when furnaces are restarted to heat homes and a problem could be undetected.
Experts say the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning is also present in chimneys, stoves, and any area where there is a flame.
