ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Officials with the Alaska Zoo say a necropsy on a camel that died last month shows its death was likely because of some kind of head trauma. Knobby, a 1-year-old male camel, died in his pen on May 10.
Zoo officials say knobby was fed and walked that morning and found dead about an hour later.
Though head trauma appears to be the cause of Knobby's death, what caused the trauma is still a mystery.
Knobby arrived in March from the Minnesota Zoo to be a companion and potential mate for a female named Tula. The zoo hopes to find another male camel.
