Man injured in crash after falling asleep behind wheel

Police said a man was apparently drunk when he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his truck into a tree Saturday night.

Police said John Gorczewicz, 24, of Evart, was northbound on 80th Avenue near 22 Mile Road in Chippewa Township about 10:30 p.m. when he fell asleep.

The truck he was ran off the road and struck a tree before rolling onto its side.

Gorczewicz was transported to Mecosta County Medical Center with minor injuries.

Alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the accident.
