M-21 between Ada and Lowell open following serious truck crash

M-21 is open again between Lowell and Ada following a serious truck crash. The crash happened early Tuesday afternoon near Settlewood Drive and Parnell.

Investigators say a westbound car was waiting to turn left into a driveway and a van was waiting behind it, when another van hit the waiting van. The van was pushed into the eastbound lanes where an asphalt truck was traveling at full speed. The truck driver tried to avoid the van, but clipped it and crashed through a guardrail and down an embankment.

One person in the van was thrown from the vehicle. Both people in the van have been taken to the hospital with injuries.

The truck driver and other drivers involved in the crash did not receive serious injuries. The truck did overturn spilling its load of asphalt.
