Driver Plunges Into 75-Foot Ditch

One person was killed and another sent to the hospital when a car plunged into a ditch early Monday morning.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers said the driver was going from the southbound ramp on Kansas Highway 7 to eastbound Interstate 70 when the car crossed the median and drove into the ditch.

The driver died at the scene. His passenger was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover, troopers said.

Troopers said the accident scene was difficult to find, because the passenger who was trying to give rescue crews a location was legally blind.

The driver may have suffered a heart attack, troopers said.
