Woman injured in hit and run near fire station

Jun 25, 2008 | Staff | Evening Gazette

A woman was taken to hospital after the car she was in was involved in a smash with a hit and run driver.

Firefighters were the first emergency services on the scene after the accident outside Middlesbrough Fire Station, in Park Road South, at 5.24pm yesterday.

An Audi car is alleged to have driven into the back of a Nissan Micra, which was stationary in traffic. Firefighters said the Audi then fled the scene - leaving behind a number plate.

A passenger in the Micra, a woman in her 30s, was given first aid at the scene for shock and back and neck pain before being taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital. Police are investigating after the R-registration Audi left the scene.
