Driver in court over fatal crash

Jun 16, 2008 | Staff | BBC News

A bus driver has appeared in court accused of causing death by dangerous driving at Walsall Bus Station.

John Connolly, 62, of Darwin Close, Burntwood, Staffordshire, spoke only to confirm his name and address at Walsall Magistrates' Court.

He is accused of causing the death of pedestrian Jean Crump, 66, from Walsall, who died in hospital after a crash in July 2007.

Two buses crashed and then collided with three other vehicles, police said.

Six other people were injured in the crash.

Mr Connolly was bailed and is due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 8 September.
